A donation of Light

I do not know Kent Smith and his wife personally. But God united our paths for a beautiful purpose.  We have written and talked on the phone. He lives in Virginia and his intention was to visit Puerto Rico, but Hurricane Irma postponed his trip. Days after Irma's passage, we talked about how it was possible to come as there was no significant damage, but María arrived, the hurricane that changed the history of Puerto Rico.

            During the first four weeks after Maria's crossing, it was practically impossible for me to communicate with anyone.  Almost 7 weeks later I managed to read a message from Kent.  Briefly, I replied that everything was fine and that God was providing me provision to support others.  It was weeks after I saw another message from Kent where he asked me if we needed anything.  At that time, we were going for more than two months without electricity and it was really exhausting for people to deal with this situation.  I thought of asking for batteries and flashlights to distribute.  I placed the order and Kent immediately told me that we could count on that help.

              That same night, the Lord woke me up and put in my heart that we did not really need electricity in Puerto Rico.  What was really needed was the Light of Christ in our hearts. That Light that sets aside any darkness of fear and affliction and fills us with faith, trust, hope and a peace that surpasses all understanding. The next day I wrote back to Kent and explained what God had put in my heart.  He immediately responded that we could count on some Bibles in Spanish.

               Today my wife called me from the post almost unable to talk about the emotion.  She told me that the Bibles had arrived, and they were beautiful. My heart is also filled with joy knowing that we now have the true Light that is the Word of God and today we will begin to distribute these beautiful Bibles to those leaders and people who need or need to know the Gospel.

               God has shown me his greatness in this crisis. He has given the provision and has given me the strength to help the needy through the distribution of food, water, and words.  But now God has provided the most important thing that is the Light of his word through these Bibles. Thank you, Kent, for being an instrument of God and give us this gift of Light. A hug and blessings

Una donación de Luz

No conozco en persona a Kent Smith y su esposa. Pero Dios unió nuestros caminos para un hermoso propósito.  Nos hemos escrito y conversamos por teléfono.  Él vive en Virginia, y su intención era venir a visitar Puerto Rico, pero el huracán Irma pospuso su viaje.  Días después del paso de Irma, conversamos acerca de que era posible venir a la Isla ya que no había daños significativos, pero llego María, el huracán que cambió la historia de Puerto Rico.

Durante las primeras cuatro semanas después del paso de María, me fue prácticamente imposible comunicarme con alguien.  Después de casi 7 semanas logré leer un mensaje de Kent.  Brevemente le respondí que todo estaba bien y que Dios me estaba proporcionando provisión para servir de apoyo a otros.  Semanas después pude ver otro mensaje de Kent donde me preguntaba si necesitábamos algo.   En ese momento ya íbamos por más de dos meses sin electricidad y resultaba verdaderamente agotador para las personas lidiar con esta situación.  De momento se me ocurrió solicitarle baterías y linternas para repartir.  Le hice el pedido y Kent de inmediato me respondió que podíamos contar con esa ayuda.

Esa misma noche, Dios me despertó y puso en mi corazón que en realidad no necesitábamos electricidad en Puerto Rico.  Lo que realmente hacía falta era la Luz de Cristo en nuestros corazones.  Esa Luz que hace a un lado cualquier obscuridad de temor y aflicción y nos llena de fe, confianza, esperanza y una paz que sobrepasa todo entendimiento.  Al día siguiente le escribí de nuevo a Kent y le expliqué lo que él Señor había puesto en mi corazón. De inmediato el me respondió que podíamos contar con algunas biblias en español.

Días después, mi esposa me llamó del correo casi sin poder hablar de la emoción. Me dijo que las biblias habían llegado y estaban hermosas. Mi corazón también se llenó de alegría al saber que contábamos con la verdadera Luz de la palabra de Dios contenida en estas hermosas biblias.  Ese mismo día se repartieron a líderes y personas que llevan o necesitan conocer el evangelio.

Dios me ha mostró su grandeza en esta crisis. Él me dió la provisión y me ha dado la fortaleza para ayudar a los más necesitados por medio de la repartición de alimentos, agua y palabra. Pero ahora Dios ha provisto lo más importante que es la luz de su palabra por medio de estas biblias. Gracias Kent por ser un instrumento de Dios y darnos este donativo de Luz. Un abrazo y bendiciones.

Isa 9:2 El pueblo que andaba en tinieblas vio gran luz; los que moraban en tierra de sombra de muerte, luz resplandeció sobre ellos.
